SAFE Credit Union gives more than $5,000 to military via Operation care Package
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 15, 2015) — SAFE contributed $5,000 and gathered 25 extra-large moving boxes packed with food and personal items to fill military care packages.
As part of the American Red Cross Operation Care Package, SAFE placed bins in all of its branches so that members and employees could contribute food, snacks, and various hygiene items to the soldiers. In all, the food, candy, toothbrushes, lotion, and socks gathered at SAFE branches filled 25 huge boxes.
SAFE employees then sorted and boxed the goodies for delivery to the Roseville Auto Mall where the American Red Cross team was creating care packages to send to our soldiers and veterans. The American Red Cross is just one of hundreds of nonprofit and charity organizations that SAFE actively supports through volunteer efforts and donations.
“We were honored to take part in Operation Care Package because we believe in supporting our soldiers and veterans,” said SAFE CEO Henry Wirz. “We hope the care packages filled with food and personal items will put a smile on their faces.”
SAFE has a proud history with the military. The credit union was founded in 1940 to serve Sacramento Air Depot civilian and enlisted employees at McClellan Air Force Base in North Highlands. SAFE also offers home loan discounts to military and veterans, in addition to actively supporting organizations and events that improve the lives of the men and women who serve our country.
