San Diego County Credit Union Applauds Selection of Teams for San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl
SAN DIEGO, Calif., (Nov. 27. 2012)–San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, today applauded the announcement of the two college football teams set to play in the eighth annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
The San Diego Bowl Game Association, the non-profit entity that produces the game, today announced that the Brigham Young Cougars will play the San Diego State Aztecs. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 20th at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.
The bowl matchup pits the Mountain West champion-Aztecs (9-3 overall, 7-1 MWC) against longtime rival BYU, which finished the season 7-5.
“We are looking forward to the game with great anticipation because it renews a longtime rivalry between the Aztecs and Cougars,” said Teresa Halleck, President & CEO of San Diego County Credit Union. “It will be a great college football game for San Diego, especially since both teams had great seasons.”
The 2012 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl will be the 35th meeting between the Aztecs and the Cougars, and first since 2010, which was BYU’s final season in the Mountain West Conference before the football program became an independent. The Cougars lead the all-time series 27-7-1.
The Aztecs last played in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl in 2010, when they beat Navy 35-14.
