San Diego County Credit Union executive named a 2019 Top Tech Award Finalist
Scott Maxwell was recognized in the 2019 Top Tech Awards hosted by the San Diego Business Journal
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 23, 2019) — Scott Maxwell, Senior Vice President, Chief IT Security Officer at San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®) was named a finalist for the 2019 Top Tech Award by the San Diego Business Journal, a San Diego-based weekly business newspaper.
The Top Tech Award recognizes top information technology leadership in San Diego, as nominated by peers and/or clients. The prestigious awards program honors many individuals who use information technology in a competitive and innovative way to accelerate their business. A judging panel reviews the nominations submitted and final top scoring nominees are announced at the event. The event is held on May 16, 2019 at The Paddock at Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Maxwell was recognized due to his 22 year history at SDCCU and his tireless work to improve SDCCU’s critical infrastructure and in-depth security controls. Scott is the mastermind and expert behind SDCCU’s cybersecurity platform and policy. Due to his efforts, SDCCU has been recognized for best practices in IT and security according to third party firms and other organizations. He also is also regularly sought after from other organizations to host visits and share best practices.

Scott transitioned from the VP of Network Services to Chief IT Security Officer in January 2011, with a promotion to SVP in January, 2013. Scott has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from San Diego State University and comes from a technical background, with several network-related certifications. He is also a member in good standing with ISC2, holding the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. Scott is a member of ISACA, FS-ISAC, CUNA technology Council, San Diego CISO group, and serves on the Symitar Security Advisory Board.
