San Diego County Credit Union kicks off the new year helping to save lives

Blood drive held at five SDCCU branch locations on New Year’s Eve

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 14, 2015) — San Diego County Credit Union® (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, was busy on New Year’s Eve hosting a blood drive as part of its ongoing commitment to support life-saving events in the community.

The San Diego Blood Bank collected blood throughout the day on Dec. 31, 2014, at five SDCCU branch locations, including: El Cajon, 312 West Main Street; Encinitas, 501 North El Camino Real; Santee, 286 Town Center Parkway; Temecula, 31693 Temecula Parkway; and Vista, 1475 W. Vista Way.

SDCCU also held an employee blood drive at its administrative offices on Thursday, Jan. 8.

“All of us at San Diego County Credit Union are proud to make a difference with our support of the San Diego Blood Bank because lives depend on it,” said Teresa Halleck, SDCCU President and CEO. “Even on New Year’s Eve, we are committed to make a real difference in the life of people who need blood; people who we may never meet, but whose lives have been saved through our support of the San Diego Blood Bank.”

More than 30 hospitals regularly rely on the San Diego Blood Bank every day. But during the holidays, their need is much higher and the blood supply is much lower. Blood donations often decrease with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.
