San Francisco Federal Credit Union donates $80,000 to community causes

SAN FRANCISCO (October 2, 2014) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, continues to show their dedication to the communities they serve through their CommunityShare program. The program allows for the Credit Union and their employees to give back to causes in San Francisco and San Mateo counties through donations, employee volunteerism and fundraising activities.

In 2014, San Francisco FCU aims to donate more than $100,000 and over 800 volunteer hours to community causes. The Credit Union is well on its way to meeting this goal, already having raised over $80,000 and volunteered over 630 employee hours, 120 of which took place in September alone.

The most recent CommunityShare efforts, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, were hugely successful raising over $6,500 in donations. The San Francisco Federal Credit Union has taken part in both events in past years, and will continue to do so. The Credit Union accepted donations online and through a series of in-office events. One of the events included a raffle and a dunk contest of the Senior Leadership Team. The employees voted for their top choices and dunked President and CEO Steven Stapp, EVP and CFO Steve Ho, and SVP and COO Jude Gogan.

The San Francisco Federal Credit Union has several more CommunityShare events planned for the remainder of the year, including volunteering at the San Francisco and Second Harvest Food Banks during the week of their 60th Anniversary Celebration this October.
