San Francisco Federal Credit Union employees volunteer at local food banks

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 16, 2014) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member- owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, recently completed employee volunteer nights at two Bay Area food banks.

On March 11, 35 Credit Union employees sorted and packaged food at the SF-Marin Food Bank’s San Francisco warehouse. The Credit Union has participated in volunteer nights with the SF-Marin Food Bank for six years.

The Credit Union also coordinated a volunteer night with Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. Fourteen employees volunteered at the San Carlos location on April 2, sorting and packaging food. This is the Credit Union’s second year with Second Harvest.

“We have a longstanding relationship with the SF-Marin Food Bank, and our employees enjoy volunteering their time and efforts to the cause each year,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of San Francisco Federal Credit Union. “Now that our Credit Union has expanded its charter into San Mateo County, we’re thrilled to be volunteering with Second Harvest and giving back to the Santa Clara and San Mateo communities as well.”

In 2013, the Credit Union donated a total of 202 volunteer hours and $2,000 to the SF-Marin Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank.

“I’m proud of our employees for their generosity and desire to give back,” said Stapp. “Now that we’re working with two food banks, we look forward to providing even more opportunities for our employees to do so.”
