San Francisco Federal Credit Union launches food bank donation app
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 30, 2015) — San Francisco Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties, has partnered with Mogl, a restaurant rewards smartphone app that donates meals to local food banks.
The official launch will take place May 1, 2015 and will be available for members to sign up their Credit Union debit and credit cards to begin earning cash back at participating restaurants. Once the cash back is earned, they can choose to donate the money to their local food banks, SF-Marin Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Banks.
Additionally, regardless of their cash back donation, if a user spends $20.00 or more at participating restaurants, Mogl automatically donates a meal to a local food bank. Mogl’s mission to “fight hunger with hunger,” allows users to seamlessly donate to their local community in several ways.
San Francisco Federal Credit Union has partnered with SF-Marin Food Bank for over fourteen years and has recently partnered with Second Harvest as their charter was expanded to San Mateo County in 2013. Staff volunteers at the food banks several times a year, totaling over 980 hours, and donates to the cause regularly, with total donations surpassing $26,000 since 2009. While the Credit Union will continue these efforts, Mogl donations will be an additional resource for the food banks.
Beginning in May, San Francisco Federal Credit Union will have kiosks in branches that allow users to sign up all of their debit and credit cards to begin using the app. You can also sign up your debit and credit cards and begin using Mogl by visiting, http://sffedcu.mogl.com or downloading the Mogl smartphone app with referral code: sffedcu.
