SC Telco Federal Credit Union announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Brian McKay as President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Steve Harkins upon his retirement in April of this year.
“During this period of transition, I can think of no one more qualified or perfectly suited for this position,” stated SC Telco Chairman Mike Strickland. “Brian is a proven leader, exemplifying an innovative-spirit and strategic vision to continue to move our organization forward.”
McKay has more than two decades of experience in the financial industry, beginning his tenure with SC Telco in 2004. Since 2007, he has been part of the senior management team, currently serving as Executive Vice President. In this role, he has been responsible for strategic execution and the overarching day-to-day operations of the credit union – insight that positions him well in this transition to CEO.

As President and CEO, McKay will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the credit union with the mission of improving the financial lives of the members we serve – a mission that also fuels his passion for community involvement. He serves as a current member of Greenville Rotary, Innovative Business Solutions Board of Directors, the Credit Union Legislative Action Council Board of Trustees, and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation Board of Directors.
Working alongside McKay on the Executive Leadership Team is Chief Financial Officer Toni Davisson, who has held the position since 1995. Her in-depth knowledge of the industry and market environment is invaluable to the organization, working alongside McKay for over a decade. Sandra (Sam) Hammack will also continue to serve on the Executive Leadership Team as the SVP of Talent Management, an expanded role aligning with the organization’s strategic intention to retain and attract top talent. Jessica Baker has been promoted to SVP of Business Transformation, serving in a new executive role created by McKay, with the responsibility of strategic project execution, paired with process improvement and platform optimization to meet ever-changing member expectations and business needs.

A native of Columbia, South Carolina, McKay attended the University of South Carolina and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. He began his career in 1998 with First Citizens Bank and joined SC Telco in 2004 as the Marketing Manager. He lives with his family in the Five Forks area, where he enjoys serving at church and coaching youth soccer.
