Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $2,500 to Latina SafeHouse

Donation to provide essential food and housing supplies for domestic violence survivors

SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 8, 2020) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping survivors of domestic violence by donating $2,500 to Latina SafeHouse, a critical non-profit in the Denver area that provides bilingual and culturally sensitive services to survivors of domestic violence and their families.

“When a family comes to the program, they often have nothing, but the clothes on their backs,” said Angela Cesena, executive director for Latina SafeHouse. “The Security Service Charitable Foundation is helping us ensure their safety and provide for immediate needs. From there, we can work on rebuilding their spirits and their lives.”

Recently, Latina SafeHouse has seen an 800% increase in requests for rapid rehousing. To meet this astronomical increase, the Security Service Charitable Foundation donation will be used to purchase food and essential rehousing supplies for victims such as beds, clothing, shoes, and electricity.

“Amidst Covid-19, organizations that help domestic violence victims like Latina SafeHouse are seeing an exponential increase in requests,” said Derrick Aguilar, senior vice president of member service—Mountain Region for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We are honored to be able to help feed and re-house these brave survivors.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union’s market areas.
