Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $5,000 to Community Action Services

Providing essential items to service members and their families

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 8, 2021) — The Security Service Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to Community Action Services and Food Bank in Provo, Utah. The donation will help the nonprofit purchase a produce cooler to better preserve fresh food items, eliminate waste, and serve those in need. Before the donation, fresh food items were stored in a warehouse or outside when weather permitted.

“Not only does our organization have our own food bank and our five food pantries, but we also have more than 45 community partners that we distribute food to as well,” said McKay Strong, outreach specialist for Community Action Services. “Because of donors like the Security Service Charitable Foundation, we are able to make a prominent difference in the communities we serve.”

Founded in 1967, Community Action Services and Food Bank is the second-largest food bank in Utah. In 2020 the organization donated 3,224,827 pounds of food to people in need. The donations benefit community organizations like elementary schools, senior centers, and local residents.

“Everyone needs a helping hand at some point in their life, and especially in times like these,” said Ben Wiseman, senior vice president of member service – Mountain West Region. “Helping individuals and children get the nutritious food they need is important to their success. We are honored to help support Community Action Services fulfill a need within our community.”
