Security Service Charitable Foundation donates $5,000 to the Salvation Army of San Antonio

Donation to feed neighbors in need

The Security Service Charitable Foundation is providing The Salvation Army of San Antonio with a $5,000 donation to create and distribute 200 boxes of food to seniors and vulnerable members of the San Antonio community during COVID-19. Currently, The Salvation Army distributes 250-300 boxes weekly, and plans to continue this service for the foreseeable future.

“The Salvation Army has been able to assist the San Antonio community for more than 130 years due to the generosity of partners like the Security Service Charitable Foundation,” said Dr. Roberto Garcia, director of development for The Salvation Army of San Antonio. “Their dedication to serving those in need is helping us to feed hundreds of San Antonians amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.”

The Salvation Army has been serving the San Antonio community since 1889, providing emergency shelter and transitional housing for men, women, and families experiencing homelessness. They also provide assistance in crisis situations to prevent homelessness, and operate the Child Development Center for infants through school-aged children as well as the Boys and Girls Club for children ages 6-18.

“Throughout the pandemic, The Salvation Army has been working diligently to meet the growing needs of seniors and those most vulnerable in our community,” said Brandy Ralston-Lint, senior vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. “We are honored to provide them with this $5,000 donation to help feed our San Antonio neighbors.”

The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
