Service One Credit Union breaks ground on new headquarters

BOWLING GREEN, KY (December 7, 2022) — Ground was broken today (Tuesday, Dec. 6) to begin construction on a 15,000- square-foot Service One Credit Union (SOCU) branch at 101 State Street. Rebecca Stone, SOCU President & CEO, was joined by Board Chair Dr. James McCaslin, Chamber President Ron Bunch, and City Manager Jeff Meisel for the ceremonial groundbreaking. When
completed, the building will house the SOCU branch, currently located at US 31 By-Pass.

In keeping with SOCU’s long history in Bowling Green, community was an important consideration in both the location and design of the new building. “Our Board wanted the building to be a major investment, one that would spur additional investment, in the revitalization of the downtown area,” said Rebecca Stone. “The building design incorporates amenities that promote community usage and involvement in the area,” she added

Stone said the building plan calls for solar roof panels, two electric vehicle charging stations, and an outdoor pavilion to host community events. The community will have access to first-floor amenities that include, in addition to
traditional lobby functions, a fireplace, USB ports, a coffee station, games, a patio, and a meeting area. “We want everyone to feel welcome to use the space,” Stone said. The second floor will include the Board Room and offices for the credit union’s management and members of the SOCU team. “Both the location and design of the building embody our purpose to help our community thrive and grow,” Stone concluded.

Construction of the building will begin after the first of the year. It is expected to be completed in 2023.
