Six Hemet and San Jacinto teens honored as Students of the Year

HEMET, CA (June 10, 2015) – Six graduating seniors from Hemet and San Jacinto area high schools were recently honored as “Students of the Year” through a program sponsored by Altura Credit Union in conjunction with the San Jacinto and the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley Chambers of Commerce. In addition to recognition of their academic achievements, each student received a college scholarship of $1,800.

The top six students for 2014-2015 are:

Joseph Miranda, Hamilton High
Danielle Simmons, Hemet High
Michael Lenihan, Tahquitz High
Jose Leyva, West Valley High
Dexie Magtulis, San Jacinto High
Genesis Galvan, Mountain View High /Mountain Heights Academy

In its second year, the Student of the Month program recognized 49 students this year for outstanding academic performance. The top six were chosen from among the monthly winners who attend schools in the Hemet Unified and San Jacinto Unified school districts.

A special celebration dinner at Soboba Country Club honored the top students. Among the 200 celebrants were students, their families, nominating teachers, high school principals, Hemet and San Jacinto School District Superintendents, Student of the Month Committee members, and program sponsors. The West Valley High School Jazz Band provided entertainment.
