The MD|DC Credit Union Association recently named Brian Gordon, Collections Manager at Spectra Credit Union, the recipient of the 2025 Miriam Lieb Emerging Leader Award. This prestigious honor recognizes young professionals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and a deep commitment to the core values of the credit union movement.
The award pays tribute to the legacy of Miriam Rivera Lieb, a passionate credit union advocate and leader. Each year, it is presented to an individual aged 40 or under who exemplifies Lieb’s vision, dedication, and leadership within the industry.

All of the candidates exemplify the leadership qualities needed to drive the future of our movement.”
In addition to Gordon, the 2025 finalists included:
- Ashok Khadka – NIH Federal Credit Union
- Tyler Lardy – Library of Congress Federal Credit Union
- Dawn Pappas – Nymeo Federal Credit Union
As the 2025 Emerging Leader, Gordon will receive a professional development package sponsored by TruStage, which includes:
- Executive coaching sessions
- Airfare and accommodations for a visit to CUNA and TruStage headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin
- Lunch with their CEO and the MD|DC Credit Union Association President/ CEO John Bratsakis
- And additional career-enhancing opportunities
The runners-up will each receive executive coaching sessions to support their continued growth as future leaders in the credit union industry.
