SPIRE’s Dan Stoltz named AARP 50 Over 50 honoree

FALCON HEIGHTS, MN (August 18, 2022) — Dan Stoltz, SPIRE Credit Union’s President/CEO has been named a 2022 AARP Minnesota 50 Over 50 Honoree. The 50 Over 50 list celebrates and recognizes Minnesotans over the age of 50 who have made significant contributions and achievements in their communities.

After ten years as SPIRE’s CFO, Stoltz became its President and CEO amidst the 2010 recession. In the 22 years of Stoltz’s leadership, SPIRE has more than doubled in size having surpassed $2 Billion in assets and serving more than 152,000 members. SPIRE is currently the fourth largest credit union in Minnesota in terms of overall membership.

Stoltz’s personal philosophy, “life is about giving, not getting” is evident in everything he does. As was noted by AARP, “The real legacy of his leadership is the culture of service and community that’s baked in to every part of SPIRE.”

“I believe we need to be generous with our three Ts – Time, Talent, and Treasures,” says Stoltz, “For me, life is not defined by what we accumulate, but the difference we have made in the lives of others and in our communities.”

The AARP award is also about defying aging. From traveling around the state as King Boreas of St Paul Winter Carnival to ringing the Salvation Army bell over hundreds of hours as the Red Kettle Chairperson, there is no challenge Stoltz won’t face. The 9-year-old Dan Stoltz who went door-to-door delivering Pioneer Press newspapers in Saint Paul still lives inside him. He has never lost his drive to improve the lives of others.
