Spokane credit unions deliver wagonload of gifts, money to help kids

SPOKANE, WA (November 21, 2013) — Since 1996, Spokane-area credit unions and our members have raised more than $1.33 million for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Now, on the cusp of the holiday season, credit unions are about to deliver a bit more: A Radio Flyer wagon full of toys, along with a check for $19,582.

Join us at 2 p.m. Friday, November 22, for this presentation on the fourth floor of Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital.

Although Sacred Heart is the site of the delivery, the money is distributed to nine local hospitals and programs, all serving children in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. The money goes toward specialized care and life-saving equipment. You can read more about Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at cmnspokane.org.

Credit unions throughout the region raise money individually for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals during CU for Kids events, and they cooperate on fundraisers, such as CU for Kids Nights with the Spokane Chiefs and Indians.

Money being delivered with the wagon was raised in October, during a fund-raising auction at the Northwest Credit Union Association’s Amplify Convention in Portland. The auction raised more than $130,000, which is being distributed to CMNH chapters throughout Washington and Oregon.
