Summit Credit Union’s annual Board of Directors Scholarship program is now accepting applications from members who are high school seniors or currently enrolled in college or technical school. Each year, Summit awards three winners a $1,500 grant to support their higher educational journey and enrich their lives beyond graduation.
“At Summit, we understand how powerful education can be in helping young people reach their potential,” said Summit Credit Union CEO & President Kim Sponem. “The Board of Directors Scholarships are a way to reward motivated students for their hard work and support them on their way toward achieving their goals.”
Applications must be received through postal mail or dropped off in person at Summit’s headquarters by February 28. Blind judging of applications by external credit union professionals will take place in March, and all applicants will be notified of their submission status by phone or email on or before April 30. Scholarship winners will be announced at Summit’s annual member celebration, Summit Fest, in the spring.
To be eligible for consideration, students must be members of Summit Credit Union as of Jan. 1, 2020, through an individual or joint account and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Summit is committed to supporting area youth through a variety of higher education scholarships and financial education programs. The financial cooperative also has in-school branches at Madison’s East, West, Memorial and La Follette high schools.
Over the past four years, Summit has awarded over $75,000 in scholarships to students throughout south-central and southeastern Wisconsin. For more information on the Board of Directors Scholarships and to download an application, visit https://www.summitcreditunion.
