Summit donations support Suzuki Principle Violin Training

BISMARCK, ND (June 11, 2014) — Each year at the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) Annual Summit, a local charity is selected to benefit from the generosity of our credit unions.  This year’s charity of choice was the Suzuki Principle Violin Training program.

During the Summit, CUAD accepted monetary donations on their behalf, which were collected in a violin case that was on display at the registration table.  The final amount collected was $570, which was delivered to the charity on Tuesday, June 10.  Summit attendees enjoyed a demonstration on the violin by a youngster who is benefitting from this program during the luncheon on Thursday, June 5.

Some studies suggest that one in five children experience behavioral problems that place them at risk of failing in school and in life. The hope is that the musical training provided by this charity will help the childrens’ development and avoid any mental health concerns.  Family support is part of the program.  Each family is matched with a family health coordinator to build connection and stability at home. They work directly with individual families on wellness and parenting strategies. The program provides family-based assessments and intervention services based on specific needs.

Headquartered in Bismarck, ND, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) is the professional financial trade association serving 75 credit unions in North and South Dakota with assets in excess of $5.5 billion and serving over 461,300 credit union members.
