(April 30, 2015) — On April 21, 2015, the Ohio Credit Union League awarded Tamlyn Straight Schervish the Professional of the Year award during its annual inVest48 Conference. Tam was proudly nominated by the Unity Catholic FCU Board of Directors, Management Team and Staff and needed to have the support of her peers as well as being voted on by the committee.

Tam is a self-proclaimed Credit Union “brat”, having grown up in the credit union industry with her father and mentor David Straight who passed on his strong passion for the industry to her. Tam’s commitment to financial education was a perfect match for her to continue her career at Unity Catholic FCU ten years ago. Our Credit Union runs Student Saver programs in 16 Catholic Elementary schools and reach over 350 students annually with Real Money Real World financial educational classes.

Tam said in her acceptance speech “Credit unions are all about people – “people helping people” has been the age old motto. But I believe that it is more than just helping our members, but also helping our community and our colleagues.” This is the core of credit union values and a true statement as to why Tam was named Professional of the Year.
