The Members Group and TMG Financial Services receive prestigious marketing honors

DES MOINES, IA (May 28, 2014) — Payments processor The Members Group (TMG) and its sister company, credit card agent issuer TMG Financial Services (TMGFS), each received recognition from the Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA Iowa). Both companies earned multiple NOVA Awards for excellence in marketing campaigns.

According to AMA Iowa, the NOVA Awards received a record number of entries in 2014. The competition is unique because judges apply triple weight to campaign results.

This is the fifth consecutive year TMG has received NOVA honors. This year, the payments processor took “Best in Category” in the Special Events group for its annual client conference. The conference surpassed goals in the areas of attendance, sponsorship and media coverage.

In addition, TMG received third-place honors in both the Interactive Marketing and Public Relations categories. The Interactive Marketing award recognized the thought leadership communicated through the company’s TMGBlog.com – a site The Financial Brand named one of the “Top 20 Blogs for Financial Marketers.” The Public Relations award recognized TMG’s media relations efforts, which generated media coverage more than 50 percent above the marketing team’s goal. As part of TMG’s mission to create successful partnerships, the payments company worked with public relations firm Kelly Moore Consulting, Inc., to execute the award-winning blog and PR campaigns.

TMGFS earned second place in the Marketing Communications category for its annual employee incentive program, which secured a 45-percent increase in engagement. In the Marketing Research category, the agent issuer received another second place win for its strategic application of consumer research, which has had an impressive impact on the portfolio’s early activation and usage rates.

The TMG and TMGFS marketing teams, led by TMG VP of Marketing Georgann Smith and TMGFS VP of Marketing April Schmaltz, celebrated alongside their Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) colleagues at the 9th Annual NOVA Awards event. TMG and TMGFS are operating companies of ICUL, which was named winner of the Nonprofit Marketing category for its work on the Iowa Credit Union Pledge. The campaign worked to educate, organize and activate credit union advocates on important federal and state legislative issues.
