Sunnyvale, CA (June 8, 2026) |
Star One Credit Union, a not-for-profit financial institution based in Sunnyvale with locations throughout the South Bay area, more than 130,000 members, and assets exceeding $9.3 billion, today announced the launch of its newest advertising campaign.
The campaign features the return of Ragnar, the barbarian who first captured attention with his humorous take on the financial industry. In the new videos, Ragnar now finds himself navigating the modern world as a Silicon Valley influencer. Along the way, he continually encounters the same question: Why do big banks still make banking so difficult?
Through a series of digital advertisements, Ragnar charges into the confusing fees, disappointing rates, and complicated products that consumers often associate with traditional big banks. His conclusion is simple... banking shouldn't feel like a battle.
The campaign positions Star One as a better alternative, emphasizing competitive rates, lower fees, personalized service, and a commitment to putting members first. While the creative execution is intentionally lighthearted, the underlying message reflects Star One's long-standing mission of helping members achieve a stronger financial future.
The return of Ragnar represents Star One's continued investment in building meaningful connections with consumers while reinforcing the tangible benefits of credit union membership. By combining humor with a clear message about value, transparency, and service, the campaign aims to spark conversations about what people should expect from their financial institution.
Members and community residents will begin seeing Ragnar across digital advertising platforms, social media channels, and out-of-home advertising placements throughout the Bay Area in the coming weeks.
