Together Credit Union welcomes Nikia Montgomery as DEI Ambassador
ST. LOUIS, MO (July 21, 2022) — Together Credit Union is thrilled to welcome Nikia Montgomery as its first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Ambassador. Using advocacy, education, and innovative solutions, Montgomery will evolve the organization’s practices and processes to ensure that DEI is seamlessly woven into every aspect of operations at the credit union.
“Together Credit Union strives to create an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity and an environment in which all team members feel they belong,” said Claire Trunko, Chief People and Strategy Officer. “Ensuring everyone, from any background, can do their best work is the right thing to do, will make us stronger, and ultimately provide the best experiences for our members.”
In 2018, Together Credit Union formed a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. Championed by dedicated team members, the council serves as an advisory committee, providing feedback and support on ways the organization can better incorporate DEI initiatives into the business. In addition, the credit union supports grassroots organized Employee Resource Groups focused on providing support to team members with shared characteristics and guiding the organization on how to better engage with team members and raise awareness of relevant topics surrounding underrepresented groups in the workplace.
“I believe celebrating our unique experiences, voices, and perspectives makes us a stronger, more united force. Together Credit Union has recognized this need to evolve into a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization to better serve its members and communities. Our efforts will usher in a new era where all team members and members feel comfortable to share their authentic selves,” said Montgomery.
Before joining the credit union, Montgomery served as the Vice President, Territory Manager at Capital One. There, she helped launch the first-ever retail card partnership with Walmart and led a Diversity and Inclusion Group within the partnership team. She is also a member of the following groups to educate and advocate for change related to diversity and inclusion: Color of Change, VOICES, HOLA, and Empower HER. Montgomery holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University.
