Tropical Financial Credit Union to raise money for victims of Nepal earthquake

MIRAMAR, FL (May 5, 2015) – Throughout the month of May, Tropical Financial Credit Union will collect monetary donations for victims of the devastating earthquake in Nepal that killed more than 5,000 people.  All donations will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Tropical Financial employees will raise money internally, but the credit union is also inviting its members and members of the public to help out as well.  Tropical Financial will then match up to $5,000 of the money raised.

“At Tropical Financial, we are pleased to do our small part to help the survivors of this devastating earthquake try to restore their lives,” said Richard Helber, President/CEO who is also a volunteer board member for the Broward Chapter of the American Red Cross.  “You can count on the Red Cross in a time of disaster; whether it happens here in South Florida, or thousands of miles overseas in places like Nepal, they will always be there to help alleviate human suffering.”

Gifts will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to disaster victims.

People can log on to and make an online donation, or find the address of a Tropical Financial branch and drop off their donation in person. Credit union members also have the option of making a donation by calling 888-261-8328.
