TRUE Community Credit Union donates $33,000 to schools in Michigan
JACKSON, MI (February 8, 2021) —
TRUE Community Credit Union donated $33,000 to schools in Jackson, Ingham and Washtenaw counties. TRUE Community Credit Union gave $1,000 to 33 local school partners that provide a TRUE Community Student-Run Credit Union program, the Jackson $aves program or both to their students. The donations are to help meet any student, staff or teacher needs. TRUE Community team members personally delivered the money to the schools today.
Chrissy Siders, President/CEO of TRUE Community Credit Union, stated, “We are humbled to be able to give this small token of our appreciation to the schools in our community. We can’t think of a group that embodies the definition of essential better than our educators. They are essential to the mental, physical, and social well-being of our future generations and we are grateful for this opportunity to come alongside them as a partner during these challenging times. TRUE Community Credit Union, formerly CP Financial Credit Union, has partnered with the Jackson, MI schools for more than 30 years, providing our Student-Run Credit Union Program. This program functions as a credit union branch; however, the students operate the in-school branches; this provides a unique, interactive way for students to learn about saving money and making good financial choices. The program is designed to serve students, teachers, and staff at participating schools.
TRUE Community Credit Union is proud to partner with the Jackson Community Foundation and the Jackson County Intermediate School district to bring Jackson saves to our community. Jackson saves is a free children’s savings account program designed to assist with education and training expenses after high school. Incoming kindergarteners are eligible to enroll. Students who enroll in the program will receive a $50.00 opening deposit into their Jackson saves account. Students can save for their future at any TRUE Community branch location and any student branch location. Also, students can earn incentives to help grow their account.
