Truliant offering employees 16 hours of paid volunteer time

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (February 20, 2019) — Truliant Federal Credit Union is now offering full-time employees 16 paid hours of volunteer time to help nonprofit organizations within the North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia communities that it serves.

The Employee Volunteer Program (EVP)began in January and is part of Truliant’s commitment to being a prominent partner and participant in large and small community-development efforts where its member-owners live and work. Truliant employees will be able to contribute personal volunteer time to the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations or school that they choose to serve.

The paid volunteer hours have the potential to provide more than 10,500 hours of assistance to nonprofit organizations. Truliant’s workforce consists of 680 employees.

“At Truliant, we know that worthwhile work is about more than just providing financial services. We want to help employees establish meaningful connections with their communities through worthy endeavors,” said Sherri Thomas, chief human resources and organizational development officer. “Giving our staff ownership of positive contributions through volunteering also helps us live our mission to improve lives.”

In Deloitte’s “2017 Volunteerism Survey,” a key finding was that 89% of working Americans believe companies who sponsor volunteer activities offer a better work environment. And 77% of respondents believe that volunteering is an essential part of employee well-being.Additional studies place workplace volunteerism and corporate social responsibility among drivers of brand loyalty and awareness.

“The continued success of our communities is dependent upon the important organizations that serve the social, cultural and humanitarian needs of our friends, neighbors and members. And that’s why we are so proud to add these paid volunteer hours to the many contributions that we already make to our communities,” Thomas said.
