United Federal Credit Union celebrates expansion in Arkansas

High school band and dance team form flash mob at grand opening

ALMA, AR (April 29, 2015) — United Federal Credit Union (UFCU) celebrated its continued expansion in Arkansas by pulling out all the stops for the grand opening of its newest branch. The ribbon was cut at the Alma branch at 630 Highway 71 North on Thursday, April 23, 2015.

The Alma facility brings the total number of UFCU branches in Arkansas to five. An in-store branch at the Walmart Supercenter, 4870 Elm Springs Road, Springdale, Arkansas, opened just last month. With branches in six states, UFCU is the one-hundredth largest credit union in the nation based on asset size, according to the National Credit Union Association.

“Our charter allows us to assist the financial needs of anyone in Oklahoma and Arkansas, and we are growing quickly. We currently have just under 25,000 Members in Arkansas and have seen a 15 percent increase in membership each year since the start of 2013,” said Arkansas Market Vice President Noel Sanger.

Alma Mayor Keith Green and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Norris took part in the ribbon-cutting.

“This is the first credit union to come into Alma and to have them here is wonderful,” said Norris. “What they give to their Members and what they give to the community is unparalleled.”

The Alma High School Marching Band and the school’s award-winning dance team, the Dazzlers, took part in the celebration by staging a flash mob.

“We decided to do something different from the typical grand opening, so we drew from the community to stage a flash mob” said Starlette Accurso-Owens, Alma branch manager. “I think everyone really enjoyed it. There were lots of smiles.”
