Unitus CCU donates additional $15,000 for COVID-19 support

To help with food scarcity and housing needs for individuals and families experiencing the continued effects of the COVID-19 crisis

PORTLAND, OR (December 23, 2020) — Unitus Community Credit Union has given an additional $15,000 between local nonprofits Brown Hope, Clark County Food Bank, Good Neighbor Center, SnowCap Community Charities, and Sunshine Division to help uplift their continued COVID-19 crisis support efforts.

Unitus’ donation will assist with food scarcity for individuals and families impacted by COVID-19, as well as provide housing support, emergency shelter, food delivery, and emergency food boxes—including holiday food boxes through Good Neighbor Centerso families needing a little extra help can celebrate the season without having to worry about how dinner is getting on the table.

Since the COVID-19 crisis began in March, Unitus has provided nearly $69,000 in support of programs that provide emergency relief, human services, and school-based services for individuals, families, and students impacted by COVID-19.

Supported nonprofits include the Boys & Girls Club, Clackamas Service Center, Family Promise, Financial Beginnings, and Schoolhouse Supplies. Unitus also partnered with KPTV FOX 12’s Day of Giving fundraiser for Sunshine Division, which raised over $100,000 in one day for emergency food-based services.

“We’re continually inspired and incredibly thankful for the tireless work these nonprofits and countless volunteers put in to lift up our community every day, and especially in times of emergency,” said Steve Stapp, Unitus President/CEO.
