University Credit Union to open campus branch at the University of Southern Maine
ORONO, ME (December 19, 2014) — University Credit Union is pleased to announce that they will be opening a campus branch in the Brooks Student Center at the University of Southern Maine (USM) in Gorham in January. Matthew J. Walsh, President/CEO of University Credit Union stated “We have been looking at opportunities around the Gorham campus for some time now so when this presented itself, it was a perfect fit.” UCU currently has a self-service Shared Branching Kiosk and ATM in the Brooks Student Center and Walsh continued “the addition of an office and a staff member will provide the opportunity for us to offer on-site financial education as well as answer questions about finances and provide financial services to the Gorham community.”
The new Campus Branch will offer financial services that will include account opening, loan applications and services, as well as deposits and withdrawals utilizing the Shared Branching Kiosk. The Campus Branch is not a first of a kind for UCU, which has Campus Branches in the Memorial Union at UMaine in Orono and in the Student Center at the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
UCU has had a relationship with USM as they serve the students, employees and alumni of the entire University of Maine System as well as their families. Walsh stated “We have had a great relationship with USM for many years now and we are excited to be able to further enhance it.” Joy Pufhal, Dean of Students and Executive Director of Student and University Life added “UCU and USM have had a long, vibrant history of working collaboratively for the benefit of students.” Pufhal continued “Welcoming UCU into our student spaces will allow increased opportunities for financial literacy education, improved access to financial tools/information and increased support for institutional partnerships throughout the year. It is with great excitement that we welcome UCU in to our student center Community.”
