URW Community Federal Credit Union receives CUNA Award
DANVILLE, VA (November 5, 2014) –URW Community Federal Credit Union was one of six credit unions that received CUNA Operations, Sales & Service Council’s Excellence Award, which recognizes innovative solutions optimizing credit union performance. Winners were recognized at the 17thannual conference in September in Las Vegas.
The new 8,800 sf Danville, VA location, designed and built by DEI Incorporated, is designed to embrace the member’s needs and speaks to the credit unions SEG group and surrounding hometown. Outside the front door, music can be heard softly playing to set the stage for an atypical financial experience. Inside the lobby, a display area features a car from one of the local dealers to market URW’s loan options. The branch incorporates dialogue banking with the comforts of home, including plush leather furniture surrounding a fireplace in the waiting area, a children’s play area, and a café with complimentary coffee and juice. A community room, equipped with the most recent technology, can be reserved for non-profit events or training by the community.
URW’s entry, titled “Build it and They Will Come,” stated that as of May 2014, a year after moving into their new branch, this location “was turning a profit.” Since it’s opening, URW has opened 1,444 new accounts and loans have reached $22 million.
