Veridian Credit Union announces 2014 grant recipients

WATERLOO, IA (May 9, 2014) — Veridian Credit Union has announced grant recipients for the 2014 funding cycle. Grants are awarded to organizations that demonstrate a commitment in two areas of focus, including financial literacy and community inclusion.

Veridian’s Financial Literacy Grant supports organizations that help adults and children gain the knowledge, skill and ability to successfully manage their finances. Financial Literacy Grant recipients for 2014 are:

·        Children & Families of Iowa – Des Moines

·        Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence – Des Moines

·        Mid-Iowa Community Action – Marshalltown

·        Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa – Cedar Rapids

·        Operation Threshold – Waterloo

·        The Job Foundation – Cedar Falls

Veridian’s Inclusive Community Grant supports organizations that help create a community that is welcoming and inclusive to all individuals, including the underrepresented. Inclusive Community Grant recipients for 2014 are:

·        Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa – Clive

·        Candeo – Johnston

·        Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center – Des Moines

·        Inclusion Connection – Waverly

“The focus of Veridian’s grant funding reflects our priorities as an organization,” said Angela Weekley, Veridian’s Manager of Community Inclusion. “One way we live the ‘people helping people’ credit union philosophy is by supporting others who are strengthening our communities.”

Veridian partners with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA) to distribute the Veridian Credit Union Fund. This fund provides financial support to all of Veridian’s grant recipients.
