Vibe Credit Union hosts “Take Your Child to Work Day” with a twist

NOVI, MI (May 1, 2023) — Vibe Credit Union hosted “Take Your Child to Work Day” on April 27 and took a unique approach. Instead of simply giving the children a tour of the workplace and a few fun activities, the credit union made it a day of service.

Thirty-three children of Vibe Credit Union employees spent the day giving back to the community through various activities. Some groups made soup kits and packed salads for food-insecure people, while others made blankets for shelter animals. The youngest children packed lunches that will be distributed to people experiencing homelessness.

The children made 250 soup kits, equal to 1,000 meals, 80 servings of salad, and packed 172 lunches for distribution to local food pantries by Metro Food Rescue. They also made five blankets that are sure to make the animals at the Animal Welfare Society feel more at home. Not only did the children impact their communities positively, but they also learned about their parent’s commitment to helping others through Vibe’s initiatives.

“We wanted to give the children a meaningful experience that would teach them the value of helping others. We were so excited to inspire the next generation in the joys of serving our members and our community,” said Stephanie Leahy, Chief Marketing Officer of Vibe Credit Union. “We’re thrilled with the results and proud of the impact these children made on our communities.”

The credit union plans to make the “Take Your Child to Work Day” service project an annual tradition. It believes that teaching children the value of serving their community is an essential part of the credit union’s philosophy of people helping people. Vibe hopes that by instilling these values in children at a young age, they will be more likely to continue serving their communities as they grow older.
