VyStar Credit Union earns Military Friendly® Employer, Military Friendly Spouse Employer® designations

JACKSONVILLE, FL (November 14, 2022) — VyStar Credit Union announced today it has earned the 2023 Military Friendly Employer® and Military Friendly Spouse Employer® designations by VIQTORY, becoming the only credit union headquartered in Florida to receive both recognitions. VyStar was recognized as a Bronze-level Military Friendly® Employer.

“Our employees are at the core of everything we do, and we are constantly looking for the best ways to support them,” said VyStar Chief Human Resources Officer Kawanza Humphrey. “As a credit union founded at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in 1952, being an advocate for the military community is one of the many ways we stay true to our roots. We are proud to receive these designations, as they will help us continue to attract, develop and retain top talent in service of our members and our communities.”

Military Friendly® is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community. Organizations earning the Military Friendly® Employer designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over a thousand companies participated in the 2023 Military Friendly® survey.

VyStar is intentional about supporting and hiring military personnel and their spouses. This includes connecting directly at job fairs, career workshops and referrals from military partners like Florida Employment Support Program, Career Source and more. Employee benefits for military members include:

  • Military-focused Employee Resource Group: VyStar Employees That Served (VETS) is a resource group for VyStar employees to assist in professional development and networking, support employee and community engagement and provide outreach to the veteran community. VETS has about 85 members who actively participate in meetings, community events and more.
  • Flexible Benefits: VyStar offers a robust benefits package available to all employees, including our military heroes. These individuals can choose from several benefit offerings that may best fit their needs. Additionally, there are special annual paid time off programs that provide Military Leave at 15 days paid time off for military training purposes as well as Paid Family Care Leave, which provides up to 10 days paid time off to help relieve family pressures when their immediate family member is called to active military service abroad.
  • Community Impact: All VyStar employees are offered paid time off each year to volunteer in the community in support of the credit union’s core value to Lead by Example. VyStar partners with military-themed organizations for financial support and employee volunteer opportunities.

In addition to these employee benefits, VyStar shows its support for the military with a variety of unique perks and military benefits. These include the Military Heroes Mortgage Program, special military-themed debit cards and more. Also, in honor of Veterans Day, VyStar has sponsored free or discounted admission for veterans and active-duty military members to destinations such as the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, Orlando Solar Bears hockey, Florida State University athletics and more.
