VyStar Credit Union announced today it has been named to the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2021 Best Places to Work in IT, an annual feature that since 1994 has ranked the top 100 work environments for technology professionals.
VyStar ranked No. 3 among mid-sized organizations, up 10 spots from 2020 when the credit union debuted at No. 13. Rankings were determined by responses to a comprehensive questionnaire that included categories such as employee benefits, career development, training and retention. Interviews with IT professionals also factored into the rankings.
“It’s a tremendous honor for VyStar to be recognized as one of the best places to work in IT, and being selected for a second straight year is evidence of our ongoing commitment to our talented staff,” said VyStar President/CEO Brian Wolfburg. “VyStar’s IT employees proudly serve our more than 770,000 members with innovative technology in our branches and across our digital platforms. Their efforts have a significant impact on our credit union today and will continue to support our future growth.”
VyStar’s IT employees work with advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, data analytics and cloud technology to improve the member experience. As part of those efforts, VyStar recently formed the Enterprise Project Management Office to incorporate multiple departments and support the organization’s digital transformation.
The IT department also supported VyStar’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, which included originating more Paycheck Protection Program loans than any other credit union in Florida. The personal satisfaction of knowing they are fulfilling a meaningful role in helping the communities VyStar serves has resulted in an IT turnover ratio of less than 7%.
“Despite the overwhelming obstacles the pandemic has created for many businesses, IT has managed to thrive and in fact, become more essential in the workplace. Attracting and retaining top IT talent to research, deploy and maintain technology has never been more critical,” said Kate Hoy, editor of IDG’s Insider Pro. “Companies that have earned a spot on the Insider Pro and Computerworld 2021 Best Places to Work in IT list have been able to foster nimble and flexible work environments — while continuing to keep competitive compensation and benefits steady. Additionally, they foster a spirit of diversity, social responsibility, training and innovation.”
VyStar offers a team atmosphere where diversity and growth are valued. IT team members are encouraged to take part in the credit union’s Diveristy & Inclusion discussion series and participate in VyStar Resource Groups. They also enjoy the ability to participate in challenges to augment their skillsets and have access to online classes where they can earn certifications and learn more about technology.
