WalletWorks financial education program engages 50k participants throughout Pennsylvania in first five years

HARRISBURG, PA (March 28, 2019) — 2019 marks the five year anniversary of WalletWorks, a financial education program operated by Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, PSECU.  Since its inception, the program has offered financial learning opportunities to more than 50,000 individuals through workshop presentations for college and university students, community groups and nonprofit organizations, and PSECU’s Select Employee Groups (SEGs) across the state. SEGs are businesses in PSECU’s field of membership that offer PSECU membership in their benefits package.

“We believe that the more financial know-how you have, the better you’ll be able to manage your money. That’s why we created our own financial education program – WalletWorks – to share with members and non-members alike,” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “We tailor the specific information we present so that its appropriate for the group, whether it’s college students on campus, employees in their workplace, or community members at one of our events.”

Since 2014, more than 1,718 WalletWorks workshops have been held, including:

  • 1,247 on college and university campuses
  • 165 for PSECU SEGs
  • 306 for community groups and nonprofits

In that time, WalletWorks workshops have engaged more than 50,123 participants, including:

  • 38,842 college and university community members
  • 3,962 individuals from PSECU Select Employee Groups
  • 7,319 individuals from community groups and nonprofits

“Anyone can request a WalletWorks financial education presentation for their workplace or organization,” said Sara Weiser, PSECU’s Financial Education Manager. “If you’re an HR representative for one of our Select Employee Groups, you can contact your Business Development Manager. For any other requests, please contact us at walletworks@psecu.com.”

In addition to financial education workshops, WalletWorks offers helpful videos, articles, and worksheets on its webpage, psecu.com/walletworks.

Iconic of WalletWorks, the program’s money know-it-all, Walter Wiser, is here to help you make your wallet work for you.
