#weCUgrads celebrates 2020 graduates

ATLANTA, GA (April 24, 2020) — Credit Unions are known for making a difference in our members’ lives through their finances and supporting the communities that we serve. Since the disruption of everyone’s lives with COVID-19, credit unions have not only stepped up to support their member’s financial needs, but continue to find creative ways to serve their communities while social distancing.

A group of individuals from Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan and Georgia joined together to create the #weCUgrads challenge with the idea of celebrating 2020 graduates through social media. “We wanted to put together a challenge that any credit union large or small can get involved with” said Amanda Knodel from a Credit Union in Georgia. The challenge is simple: use the #weCUgrads during the week of May 4th to show support to graduates who are missing out on their final chapter of school – their commencement ceremony.

The challenge is an opportunity for credit unions to help shine the spotlight back on graduating seniors and all that they have accomplished over the years. By joining together in this week-long social media campaign, we will extend our heartfelt congratulations by saying “we see you grads!” A “starter pack” including a logo, social media ideas, profile picture frame, and more is available for your credit union to use. Credit Unions are encouraged to get creative and adapt the campaign to fit their individual brand and style.

The goal of the challenge is to get at least one credit union in every state to participate. By coming together, we could show the nation the strength and heart that credit unions have for the people they serve.

To join the challenge, reach out the Amanda at Amanda@pinnaclecu.org to learn more and receive a “starter pack” of information to get your credit union ready for #weCUgrads from May 4th to May 8th.
