Wescom Financial CEO Darren Williams recognized as distinguished leader in Los Angeles Business Journal’s LA500

PASADENA, CA (June 11, 2025) |

Wescom Financial is pleased to announce that Darren Williams, President and CEO, has been included in the 2025 Class of LA 500 honorees, chosen by the Los Angeles Business Journal. The LA500 signature issue, now in its 10th year, features the 500 most influential people in Los Angeles based on their achievements in the business community.

“This recognition means a lot to me. Not only am I humbled to be an honoree, but I’m grateful because my colleagues at Wescom Financial make this recognition possible,” reflected Williams. “Our workplace culture has enabled us to thoughtfully, and consistently, put our members’ needs first. I am excited to guide our team through future opportunities to improve and innovate.”

Williams, serving as President and CEO of Wescom since 1997, has been instrumental in the financial institution’s expansion throughout California. When he first joined the organization, Wescom had $1.1 billion in assets, 162,000 members, and 11 branches. Today, as a result of his guidance and leadership, Wescom has more than $6 billion in assets, more than 250,000 members, and 30 branches. Darren’s strategic guidance last year during Wescom’s merger with Central Coast Federal Credit Union (CCFCU) was a major factor in the organization’s continued growth across the state, specifically, into Monterey County.

One of his biggest accomplishments is launching the Wescom Foundation in 1999, the employee-run charitable arm of the financial institution. To date, the Wescom Foundation has donated more than $6 million to California-based non-profit organizations.

Williams also led a key initiative for the organization to become a community-chartered credit union, which allows anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in the 21 counties Wescom serves to open an account and become a member.

Philanthropy plays a major role in everything Williams does, professionally and personally. He currently serves on several committees and boards, including: Credit Unions for Kids® Wine Auction Executive Committee, the Advisory Board for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals® , and the Executive Board of the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation. He also served on the Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) Board of Trustees.

In addition to this Los Angeles Business Journal recognition, Williams has previously been awarded the Credit Union Times CEO of the Year and the Corporate Award from Pasadena Branch of the NAACP 33rd Annual Ruby McKnight Williams Awards.
