3 signs you’re a chronic complainer

Positive people are nowhere to be found

If you’re wondering whether you complain too much just take a look around you. Are you surrounded by upbeat individuals or “Debbie Downers?” Chances are if you’re a chronic complainer positive people will run for the hills. So, don’t be surprised if you’re not asked to be part of a project at work or are not invited to certain social events. Until your outlook changes, others will avoid you.

It’s “your way or the highway”

Those that constantly complain are only happy when things are done a certain way… their way! Anytime anyone else steps in and gives input it just isn’t up to their standards. When complainers find the negative in anything others put forward it is a detriment to the team as a whole. The only way to move forward and achieve goals is to stop whining and welcome new ideas.

You’re “barrier-focused”

When you’re being challenged, can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Chronic complainers have a negative perspective on life and look at obstacles as roadblocks (or barriers) they may never be able to cross. Everything around them is a problem that may not have a solution. To get out of this rut, complainers need to focus solely on the brighter side of the situation. Open yourself up to the possibility that things will turn out the way you want them to. You’ll be amazed at how just a little bit of optimism can improve your quality of life, and that of those around you.
