Federal credit union post-examination survey

Dear Boards of Directors and Chief Executive Officers:

The NCUA has been using a voluntary post-examination survey for examinations of federal credit unions since 2021.¹ This feedback is very important and helps the NCUA evaluate our examination processes; credit unions have used the open-ended questions to submit numerous useful suggestions.

To further improve the survey process, the NCUA has arranged to have the post-examination survey administered by an external vendor.² The external vendor will begin administering the survey starting with examinations of federal credit unions completed in March 2025.³ Survey responses will generally not be used on an individual credit union basis. The NCUA’s review will continue to be based on aggregate survey data.

Your Chief Executive Officer (or equivalent position) will receive an email approximately two weeks after the completion of an examination with a link to the post-examination survey. The email domain you will receive the survey link from is NCUA@qualtrics-survey.com. You will have 15 calendar days to submit a response. Completion of the survey is voluntary. Your Examiner-in-Charge will also complete a similar survey.

Different iterations of seven to eight questions from the full list of survey questions will rotate amongst completed examinations. The survey questions are focused on pre-examination, reporting, and post-examination requirements, and will provide for some open-ended responses. Please do not include any personally identifiable information in your survey responses. Also, examination disagreements or reports of waste, fraud, or abuse should not be reported through the survey.
