Premier America Foundation awards $1 million grant to the Boys and Girls Clubs

CHATSWORTH, CA (June 26, 2025) |

Leaders from the Premier America Foundation and Premier America Credit Union joined The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) board, staff, and youth in breaking ground on a multi-million renovation on Friday, June 13, in Port Hueneme, supported by a major grant from the Foundation. They were joined by the fundraising committee and the mayor of Port Hueneme, Martha McQueen-Legohn.

The Premier America Foundation, the charitable arm of Premier America Credit Union, was pleased to announce a $1 million capital impact donation, providing the pivotal funds which pushed the campaign over the finish line of the “Believe in Our Next Generation” campaign.

“This place represents the future of the Port Hueneme community,” Rudy Pereira, Premier America Credit Union President and CEO, said. “We are here to support them, every step of the way.”

In recognition of the generous donation, the renovated Club will be named the Premier America Boys & Girls Clubhouse. Alex Gallardo, VP, Community Impact & Financial Wellness and Executive Director of the Premier America Foundation, said, “This investment represents our ongoing commitment to providing the youth in Ventura County opportunities to build safe and vibrant futures.”

Once complete, the upgraded Clubhouse will feature modern, high-end spaces—including a STEAM Lab, eSports lounge, teen center, and other luxury amenities—designed to inspire creativity, confidence, and connection. This transformation reflects the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme’s commitment to providing a safe, welcoming “home away from home” where every young person can learn, grow, and thrive. With Premier America’s leadership gift helping bring this vision to life, their name on the building will stand as a daily reminder of what’s possible when a community invests in youth.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme is Ventura County’s largest Boys & Girls Club, serving more than 5,200 youth annually and 2,400 daily. They also led efforts to launch the state’s first Club inside a juvenile detention center and helped build a top-tier youth workforce program.

Larry Martin, Premier America Foundation Board Chair and Alex Gallardo, Premier America Foundation Executive Director, prepare to break ground.
