Southern Lakes welcomes two industry veterans

Perlberg and O’Brien Geary to expand lending impact across the region

KENOSHA, WI (July 8, 2025) |

Southern Lakes Credit Union is proud to announce the addition of two accomplished financial leaders to its executive team. Kristy O’Brien Geary joins as vice president of operations, and Troy Perlberg returns as vice president of lending. These moves signal bold investment in strengthening financial access and support for communities across southern Wisconsin.

O’Brien Geary brings decades of industry insight to the credit union. Most recently, she served as a credit union examiner for the State of Wisconsin. Prior to that, she spent more than 30 years at Johnson Financial Group, a full-service financial institution with locations throughout Wisconsin.

“Southern Lakes has a long-standing reputation for putting people first,” O’Brien Geary said. “I’m honored to join a team so deeply committed to helping local families and businesses thrive.”

Perlberg is no stranger to the Southern Lakes family. After a successful 16-year tenure as chief operating officer and chief lending/marketing officer at Southern Lakes, he spent the past eight years as vice president of operations for Financial Institutions Lending Options. Now, he returns with renewed focus to lead lending operations with strategic depth and community focus.

“I’m excited to be back,” said Perlberg. “Southern Lakes has always been about impact. I’m ready to help our lending program grow in ways that truly serve those who need it most.”

President John Lyons welcomed the appointments as part of the credit union’s broader mission to deliver financial solutions with heart and integrity.

“Kristy and Troy bring unmatched experience, deep local roots, and a shared passion for empowering the people we serve,” Lyons said. “This is more than leadership – it’s a promise to our members that we will continue to grow stronger, smarter, and community-focused in everything we do.”
