Centra Credit Union recently supported 17 local organizations with $10,000 in donations as part of the Centra Foundation’s Pay It Forward campaign. Pay It Forward empowers Centra’s Team Members to lead mini-service projects in groups that support local nonprofits.
Centra and its Team Members love having the opportunity to get involved within the Communities they serve. As a financial institution rooted in the credit union philosophy of People Helping People, Centra actively seeks new ways to give their team Members more opportunities to give back in unique and meaningful ways.
The following organizations were supported through Pay It Forward:
- Just Friends Adult Day Services
- Johnson County United Way
- Center for Lay Ministries Food Pantry
- Lincoln Central Neighborhood Family Center
- Firefly Children & Family Alliance
- Wayside Inn Emergency Shelter
- Jamestown High School Closet
- Packing Hope
- Our Hospice of South Central Indiana
- Habitat for Humanity
- Love Chapel
- CRADLE
- Scott County Clearinghouse
- Sellersburg Community Food Pantry
- Hoosier Christian Village
- Lutheran Community Home
- Rupert’s Kids
Centra Team Members gave back in other ways such as donating to Scottsburg, Indiana’s Chicago City Pizza’s ‘Warrior Slice’ program and visiting local grocery stores to help shoppers pay for their groceries.
No matter which project teams choose, Centra Foundation’s Pay It Forward campaign gives Centra and its Team Members another opportunity to live out their vision of creating value for each other, their Members and the Communities they serve. In the second quarter of 2025, 125 Team Members volunteered their time, and a total of $10,000 went back into the Communities Centra serves.
"This Centra Foundation program is another testament to Centra’s dedication to creating value for the Communities we serve,” Centra Director of Community Involvement Jenni Carr said. “I love seeing our Team Members getting creative and finding new ways to give back and support these nonprofits that provide valuable services to those in need. It’s truly amazing.”
Thanks to Centra’s success in 2024, the Credit Union was able to provide an additional $166,000 to the Centra Foundation. The Foundation is then allocating a total of $30,000 across 60 teams in 2025 to “pay it forward” in the Communities Centra serves.
