St. Paul Federal Credit Union appoints Chris Petersen as new chief executive officer

Interim tag lifted, permanent CEO title designated.

The St. Paul Federal Credit Union Board of Directors have announced the appointment of Chris Petersen as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 7th, 2025.

Petersen has served St. Paul Federal Credit Union for over 26 years. He started as a file clerk and has worked in nearly every corner of the credit union’s operation since. From roles in ACH and electronic services to leading IT efforts as CIO, to serving as Bookkeeper, Accountant and most recently CFO as well as Interim CEO.

“I’m honored to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive Officer of St. Paul Federal Credit Union,” said Petersen. “My journey has been grounded in one clear mission: serving you, our members. I am incredibly excited about what’s ahead. Over the next 6 to 9 months, we’ll be rolling out some major improvements.”

The leadership transition comes as St. Paul Federal Credit Union enters a new phase of growth with expanded business account services, a revamped online and mobile banking platform as well as a new partnership allowing extended Share Insurance Coverage access.
