ALBION, MI (August 27, 2025) |
Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is proud to announce the launch of its CU in School program at Harrington Elementary School (Harrington). The program will officially begin on Friday, October 10, 2025.
CU in School gives students hands-on experience in money management while building lifelong financial skills. Beginning in kindergarten and continuing through 12th grade, the program provides age-appropriate education focused on savings, financial wellness, positive behavioral reinforcement, career exploration, and student leadership opportunities.
“Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to build relationships with the students and staff at Harrington through classroom presentations,” said Laura Van Dyke, Community & Youth Engagement Manager at MCCU. “This summer, after a branch tour organized by Harrington Parent Coordinator, Harry Bonner Jr., conversations quickly grew into plans to bring CU in School to Harrington this fall. With the support of Harry and Principal Beth Brownell, we were able to make it happen.”
With the addition of Harrington, CU in School is now offered at every elementary school in the Marshall Public Schools district and is also the tenth CU in School program for MCCU.
We’re excited to bring CU in School to Harrington and ensure that all MPS students have a seamless experience with financial education and enrichment as they progress throughout the district,” added Van Dyke. “MCCU looks forward to supporting Harrington students, families, and educators with a meaningful program designed to build confidence, development lifelong skills that extends beyond the classroom.”
Principal Beth Brownell added, “We are excited to have the CU in School program available to our students at Harrington. This is a great way for students to learn how to save money while receiving rewards for their efforts.”
