LAFCU donated funds & volunteered at the food bank

Glendale, CA (October 3, 2025) |

On Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9 am to 1 pm, 15 Los Angeles Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) employee volunteers, along with other individuals and company groups, helped assemble over 51,000 pounds bags of potatoes, carrots, and onions at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank warehouse south of downtown Los Angeles.

In the photo, a $5,000 donation was presented to the Food Bank from the credit union’s charity, the Los Angeles Charitable Association, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit. The donated time and funds will help LA County residents facing food insecurity, especially important with September being “Hunger Action Month.” LAFCU has supported this charity by donating funds and volunteer time for 20 years.

Since its founding in 1973, the Food Bank has distributed over 1.9 billion meals to food-insecure people in Southern California. A donation of just $25 helps provide the equivalent of 100 meals and the Food Bank collects food from hundreds of resources. With the help of hundreds of thousands of volunteers annually and an agency network of 600 partner agencies, the Food Bank distributes millions of pounds of food each week.

Anyone who lives in the Greater Los Angeles, California Metropolitan area can join LAFCU and take advantage of its financial services. For details, visit www.LAFCU.org, call (877) MY LAFCU (695-2328), or stop by one of their branches.
