Members Cooperative Credit Union launches Project Horizon, investing in mental well-being and community health

DULUTH, MN (April 21, 2026) |

Members Cooperative Credit Union (Members) announced the launch of Project Horizon, a new initiative focused on supporting mental wellbeing and strengthening communities.

Project Horizon expands the credit union’s 90-year commitment to supporting communities, by giving back and investing in programs and partnerships that enhance lives, foster human connection, and improve access to mental health support and promote long-term stability for individuals and families. It’s a commitment to making our communities stronger, our employees happier, and our world better.

“At Members we recognize the importance of mental wellbeing, resilience and our ability to thrive. Financial stress affects more than finances—it impacts mental health, relationships and quality of life,” said Steve Ewers, Members president and CEO. “Project Horizon is about showing up for our communities in a broader way, helping people feel supported, connected, and healthier.”

The initiative centers on three priorities: supporting mental wellbeing, volunteering and building partnerships in our communities, and creating lasting impact through sustained investment. Among other initiatives, Members will work with trusted local organizations to expand access to care and connect people with meaningful resources.

As part of Project Horizon, Members Cooperative Credit Union has committed to investing $1 million to address and support mental wellbeing.

“Mental wellbeing plays a critical role in strong workplaces, families and neighborhoods,” said Simone Suri, SVP, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel at Members. “When people feel supported and hopeful, communities grow stronger and the world becomes a little better, and that’s the future we’re working toward with Project Horizon.”
