From giving to doing: Sidney Federal Credit Union employees volunteer with Syracuse Rescue Mission after $75,000 donation

Syracuse, NY (May 14, 2026) |

Sidney Federal Credit Union (SFCU) proudly partnered with the Syracuse Rescue Mission to support its critical work addressing homelessness in Central New York through both a significant financial contribution and hands‑on volunteerism.

In support of the Rescue Mission’s ongoing homelessness prevention and recovery programs, SFCU recently donated $75,000 to help advance services that provide shelter, stability, and pathways to independence for individuals and families in need throughout the region.

Further demonstrating its commitment to service, a team of SFCU employees volunteered on April 23rd, assisting the Syracuse Rescue Mission with sorting and organizing donations collected through the Polka Tot consignment sale. These donated items play an important role in supporting the Mission’s programs and ensuring essential resources are efficiently distributed to those they serve.

“At SFCU, we believe meaningful community impact comes from pairing financial support with action,” said Jim Reynolds, President and CEO of Sidney Federal Credit Union. “Our partnership with the Syracuse Rescue Mission allows us to contribute not only funding, but also time and teamwork toward an organization that makes a profound difference every day.”

“We are incredibly grateful to SFCU for their partnership and commitment to our mission,” said Dan Sieburg, Rescue Mission CEO. “Their generous support ensures that no one in our community has to face the crisis of homelessness alone. It’s through partnerships like this that a tangible, lasting impact is possible.”

The Syracuse Rescue Mission serves as a vital community partner, offering food, shelter, clothing, and comprehensive support services that help individuals overcome homelessness and achieve long‑term stability. SFCU is honored to support this mission and the dedicated staff and volunteers who make their work possible.

Through continued partnerships like this, SFCU remains committed to strengthening the communities it serves by investing in initiatives that address critical needs and create lasting change.
