Verity Credit Union deepens commitment to financial equity with new Rainier Valley Branch

Ahead of the branch opening, Verity kicks off community events on July 24 to extend its mission to reach historically excluded and underserved individuals and businesses

SEATTLE, WA (July 23, 2026) |

Verity Credit Union, a Seattle-based financial institution with assets totaling $735 million, is opening a new branch in Rainier Valley, at 8825 Rainier Ave S, neighboring the Rainier Community Center, John Muir Elementary School, and Franklin High School. The new branch sits at a familiar gathering place for the neighborhood, connecting Verity to Rainier residents and furthering its efforts to co-create pathways to generational wealth and thriving, sustainable communities.

"Opening this branch enables us to become part of the fabric of the community we serve," said Tonita Webb, President & CEO of Verity Credit Union. "We know financial well-being begins with trust, relationships and showing up consistently. We're excited to deepen our roots in Rainier Valley by creating a space where neighbors feel welcomed, supported and connected to the resources they need to thrive financially."

Leading up to the branch opening on October 5, Verity will host and participate in a series of free neighborhood events throughout Rainier Valley. The events will give residents opportunities to connect with the Verity team, build relationships, celebrate local organizations, and learn more about the new branch before it officially opens. Festivities include:

  • July 24 – Emerald City Fish & Chips Community Meal: Verity will kick off the celebration by partnering with Emerald City Fish & Chips to provide complimentary meals (while supplies last), meet neighbors and offer attendees the chance to enter a sweepstakes for one of two $2,500 cash prizes.

  • August 21 – Seattle Municipal Court Community Resource Day: Verity will join local organizations at the Rainier Community Center to connect justice-impacted community members with financial services, resources and support.

  • August 22 – Rainier Beach Action Coalition (RBAC) Back2School Bash: Families can visit Verity's booth to meet the team, learn about the new branch and access financial well-being resources while preparing for the upcoming school year.

  • September – Community Celebration (Details Coming Soon): Verity will continue its neighborhood engagement with an additional community event in September. Details will be announced in the coming weeks.

  • October 5–16 – Rainier Branch Welcome Weeks: Community members are invited to stop by the new Rainier branch during regular business hours to meet the team, tour the new space, and enter to win giveaways.

  • October 17 – Verity’s Rainier Branch Grand Opening Celebration: Verity will officially celebrate the opening of its newest branch with a community celebration. Additional event details will be announced closer to the event.

“The new location serves as a neighborhood hub for the community, offering a place where they can get trusted financial services, personalized guidance and community resources,” said Ziquora Banks, Chief Impact Strategy Officer, Verity Credit Union. “Our goal is to reach everyone, and especially those residents who have historically had less access to traditional banking services and the opportunity to build generational wealth.”

The new Rainier branch builds on Verity's recent recertification as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), reflecting the credit union's continued dedication to expanding economic opportunity and advancing financial equity throughout Washington.

Verity invites community members to attend the events, celebrate Rainier Valley, and be part of this exciting new chapter for the neighborhood. Event details and registration are available HERE.
