LIBERTY LAKE, WA (September 27, 2013) -- Tongass Federal Credit Union has selected CU*NorthWest to be their data processing solutions provider. Based in Ketchikan, Alaska, Tongass FCU is the first Alaska credit union client for CU*NorthWest.
“We are excited to enter the Alaska market and couldn’t be more thrilled to work with the TFCU team”, said Greg Smith, CEO of CU*NorthWest.
Tongass FCU, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is a community development credit union based in Ketchikan, with four branches on three islands. The credit union chose CU*Northwest and the CU*BASE® data processing system, with an expected conversion for March 2014.
“CU*Northwest’s core system offers so many features that meet our need as a growing financial institution with more complex needs,” said Susan Fisher, CEO/President. “Our credit union has expanded into member business lending, business accounts, and new this year, becoming a qualified lender in an Alaska state mortgage program. CU*Northwest also fits the bill as a cooperatively owned and operated business,” she said.
The Tongass Federal Credit Union has about 6,600 members and $63 million in assets. It was founded by Ketchikan teachers and public employees, but is now open to all workers and residents in the southern Southeast Alaska island communities. It is federally chartered and federally insured.
