PLYMOUTH, MN (October 18, 2013) -- TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the dedication of a new Little Free Library at its Lyn-Lake office in Minneapolis located at 2817 Lyndale Avenue South. This ‘take a book, return a book’ gathering place is located right outside the front doors of the credit union.
“I am so excited to give this gift to our community,” said Branch Manager, Lisamarie Meyer. “Neighbors, friends, and our own members can take, share, donate and love the books from right here in our neighborhood. This is the exact cooperative spirit our community is all about,” said Meyer.
TruStone Financial’s Little Free Library is open to anyone and everyone. They encourage members of the community to use this library as a resource and stop by to pick up a book or two. The credit union also accepts new or slightly used, good condition and family-friendly books to place in the library.
The credit union plans to add at least three more Little Free Library locations at their branch offices in Minnesota and eastern Wisconsin by spring 2014. “It’s who we are,” said Meyer. “We are your neighborhood credit union and we want our community to know we are in this together; making this tight-knit community an even better place to raise kids, live, work, worship or grow a business.”
The Little Free Library idea began in Hudson, Wisconsin in 2009 and has since taken off in many small –and large—communities. By the end of 2013, the Little Free Library organization estimates there will be 15,000 Little Free Libraries in 55 countries.
