PLYMOUTH, MN (October 29, 2013) -- TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union recently ran a Facebook campaign to give one lucky winner gas for a year, courtesy of the credit union.
Those who liked TruStone Financial’s Facebook page could enter to win once per day from September 16 through October 19, 2013. The winner, Clare Blodgett, entered one time and was randomly selected from 1,345 entries.
“I was so surprised,” said Blodgett. “I was in a meeting at work when I received the good news. I couldn’t believe it!”
TruStone Financial calculated the gas for a year based on the national average of driving 11,000 miles per year and a 30 mile per gallon vehicle. “Regardless how long it takes to use up the free gas, I will remember the credit union every single time I’m at the pump,” Blodgett smiled.
Blodgett, her husband Eric and daughter Noelle stopped by TruStone Financial’s Lyn-Lake branch to pick up their winnings and were greeted by an assembly of applauding employees, balloons, congratulatory messaging on the media screens, TruStone Financial executives and more.
The Facebook promotion ran in conjunction with the Auto Loan Quick Check promotion, which also proved substantial return on investment for the credit union. “Anytime you can keep a social media promotion aligned closely with initiatives currently driving the credit union but on the consumers own terms and schedule, you will find success,” said Katie Grindeland, Assistant Vice President, Marketing.
The campaign had more than 2,100 unique visitors to the campaign. 89% of the people who viewed the promotional page entered the contest. 21% of the traffic to the campaign resulted in a fan conversion, which resulted in a 15.5% increase in fans over 34 days.
